My Medication Isn't Working. Can I Switch Treatment?

Overview

Use this article to understand what to do if your medication is not working as expected, how long different treatments can take to work, when you may be able to try medication from a different manufacturer, and how to request a change in medication or dose.

Different treatments work on different timescales. Erectile dysfunction (ED) medication can work from the first dose, while hair loss treatment such as finasteride may take several months before results become noticeable.

Use this article when you want to:

  • Understand how long your medication may take to work.

  • Find out why medication from different manufacturers may feel different.

  • Request a replacement from a different manufacturer.

  • Find out what happens if you have already tried more than one manufacturer.

How Long Should I Give My Medication to Work?

Different treatments work on different timescales, so how long you should wait depends on the medication you are taking.

Erectile Dysfunction (ED) Medication

ED medication works from the first dose.

If your ED medication has not worked as expected, it may be worth reviewing how and when you took the medication.

Hair Loss Medication

Hair loss treatment takes longer to show results.

Finasteride typically takes three to six months before you may start to see results.

If you have only been taking finasteride for a few weeks, it is generally too early to determine whether the treatment is working.

Why Can the Same Medication Feel Different Between Orders?

RocketRx sources medication from several manufacturers.

Medication from different manufacturers uses the same active ingredient as the branded version, but the inactive ingredients may differ.

People can absorb and process medication differently, so differences in formulation may affect how well a particular manufacturer's version works for you.

This is also why your tablets may look different from one order to another.

Can I Try Medication From a Different Manufacturer?

Yes, in most cases. If your medication is not working as expected, contact Customer Care.

In most cases, we can send you a free replacement from a different manufacturer so you can see whether another formulation works better for you. There is no charge for this replacement.

Contact us reasonably soon after your order arrives because there is a limit to how long after delivery a replacement can be arranged.

What If I Have Already Tried More Than One Manufacturer?

If you have tried medication from two different manufacturers and neither version has worked as expected, contact us and explain what you have already tried. We will pass your case to the clinical team.

The clinical team can review whether:

  • A different medication may be more appropriate.

  • A different medication strength may be more appropriate.

Only the clinical team can make this recommendation, so this review is handled by the clinical team rather than Customer Care.
